The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is creating new roles as part of a significant investment in research operations services which underpins our world leading research programmes.  These roles provide vital support and expertise to our research teams with a range of legal agreements related to their projects in pursuit of LSHTM’s mission to improve health worldwide.
An experienced Senior Research Contracts Manager is sought to lead a team in the drafting, negotiating, and signing contracts across LSHTM’s complex portfolio of research and consultancy projects.
The post-holder will be the key business partner for a faculty on issues related to research contracts, working closely with faculty leadership.  They will be responsible for delivery of an efficient, customer-focused service to the faculty, identifying and resolving issues and bottlenecks, and driving long term improvements.
Applicants must have substantial experience of working in a legal and contracts role in a research-intensive higher education institution.  They should have knowledge of the contractual and regulatory landscape of clinical research. The successful candidate will have experience of successfully leading a team, and of driving improvements in delivery. They will be comfortable using their knowledge and judgement to resolve issues independently, taking a pragmatic risk-based approach to decision making. Applicants will have higher education to degree level, or equivalent, or equivalent relevant experience. Further particulars are available in the job description.
The post is full-time (0.8-1.0FTE) and permanent.
The salary will be on the Professional Services scale Grade 7 in the range £48,827-£55,895 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.

You will also need demonstrable experience of computer programming skills in either one or more of the following: R, Python, Matlab, as well as the ability to adapt to other programming languages e.g. Fortran.
Good working knowledge of geospatial software packages (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS) and experience with applied geophysical modelling is equally important.
The ability to apply skills in data programming/data analysis to meet the evolving needs of our customers is also key to success in the role, as is a genuine desire to work collaboratively as part of a small, dynamic team.

Stipendiary and Non-Stipendiary Research Fellowship (Sciences)

The College Council wishes to make an election to a Research Fellowship, tenable for three years and not renewable, to commence on 1 September 2023. The Fellowship is intended for researchers in the Sciences (including Mathematics, Engineering and the Biological, Medical and Veterinary sciences).
Research Fellowships provide opportunities for scholars at an early stage of their academic careers to establish a successful research profile. The successful candidates are expected to be either graduate students, who are expecting to submit their PhD thesis (or equivalent) no later than June 2023, or post-doctoral researchers who have completed their PhD within the last three years.
The starting stipend will be spine point 29 on the Cambridge University Pay Scale which currently equates to £24,285. There will be an increase of one spine point in each of the second and third year. If the Fellow does not hold a PhD, the stipend until the PhD is submitted will be spine point 23 which currently equates to £21,197 per year. The stipend is pensionable in the USS Pension Scheme.

Postdoctoral Research Associate – Crystallography and Coordination Chemistry) – Grade 7

Applications are invited for an ambitious scientist with an excellent track record in the crystal structure analysis and synthesis of Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and/or other classes of coordination compounds or porous materials. You will work within an interdisciplinary team of researchers to develop new flexible porous materials and exploit their dynamics in separation and catalysis.
You will have a PhD in chemistry or materials science, an excellent publication record, a pro-active approach and strong expertise in crystallography and synthesis of compounds relevant to the project (e.g. single crystal diffraction data collection and analysis, powder diffraction data collection and analysis, in situ crystallographic experiments and MOF synthesis).
Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 37 from the date of their award.
The post is available on a fixed term basis from 1st February 2023 until 31st January 2026.

The Academic Quality and Standards team (based within Assessment, Credit and Qualifications – ACQ in Academic Services) supports the University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students) in assuring academic quality and standards. The team is responsible for managing and oversee the institutional approval, monitoring and review processes for directly taught awards; managing external reviews; producing the annual institutional quality report and providing advice and guidance to the rest of the University on quality assurance related matters.

The postholder will support the Senior Manager Quality Assurance (external) in the management of external institutional quality assessment and accreditation activities including external reviews and annual reporting.

This varied, creative role supports the delivery and production of high-end video and photography content, with a focus on undergraduate student recruitment.
You will help tell the University of Bradford’s story by creating rich content using video, photography, audio, and motion graphics which will be disseminated across a range of platforms. 
You could be jumping between working on large-scale multi-team projects with significant corporate impact to innovative self-directed projects that form a key part of our customers’ journey. You could also be filming videos about inspiring alumni to send out as part of an email campaign or trying to co-ordinate access to specialist teaching spaces for an imminent photoshoot. 
To deliver this content, you’ll need to be experienced in project managing a full production from concept to completion, working in a team/individually, using industry standard camera/sound equipment, and understand Adobe Creative Suite to craft on brand and engaging content. 
You’ll contribute to and lead on, new projects and initiatives which will involve working with key stakeholders from across the University. To do this you should be an enthusiastic communicator with a proactive approach to creating and capturing rich content. With a natural talent for building good relationships at all levels, a creative and technical eye for cinematography to tell inspiring stories, and the ability to manage many projects at once.
You will be just as comfortable behind a camera as you are behind a computer in pre or post, enjoy working with people and directing non-professionals in interviews or shoots, and effectively and independently communicate and plan your ideas and projects.
